Meet our Artists

Come watch as guest artists create original paintings during Gusto Osteria's
"Paintings on the Patio” events.

Tuesdays and Thursdays, 5:00–8:00 p.m.

Artists will create small acrylics works during the dinner hours. See their techniques, ask questions, and have a delicious dinner!

Prints, note cards, and small works are all available for sale, directly from the artists.

Gusto is proud to feature the artwork of our fantastic local artist community. Adorning the walls throughout the restaurant are many original watercolor, acrylic, and oil paintings, to enjoy with our cuisine and a glass of wine.

“I've been painting since I was a child, and find it to be my comfort place. Painting has always calmed me down and inspired me. There's a place in my head that lets me dream and create, and the process of painting organizes me. When I painted for exhibitions, my subject matter was more abstract, but now I paint the little butterfly on a flower or a quail sitting on a cactus—I paint whimsy, and it makes me happy! Life has become so dear and special that small things are special now.”

“I was introduced to a world of creativity on the first day I attended Japanese school. Growing up in a military family, moving from place to place, I never stopped drawing & painting. I met my husband in school here in Tucson and became an art teacher while raising two boys. Leaving the public school system after 23 years, I now teach adult art classes and have young artist classes in my home studio. I’m not sure which I enjoy more: painting or teaching!”

“When I exhibit my work, the most fulfilling thing is to watch as it brings forth reactions and feelings: a brief moment of nostalgia, an emotional memory, a sense of resignation and acceptance. Even an expression of distaste or rejection can be satisfying, because I know I touched someone inside.”
